BALTIMORE, Md. – Stefan Aleksic, Sean Daley and Jeff Hagen scored three goals apiece, but it was not enough for the Bucknell men's water polo team, which lost by a 14-12 score at Johns Hopkins on Sunday. It completed a stretch of three league games in less than 24 hours for the Bison, who split with No. 16 Navy and No. 18 George Washington on Saturday.
Bucknell (4-5, 2-2 CWPA) defeated Johns Hopkins (5-3) by two goals last weekend at Kinney Natatorium, but could not make it two in a row over the Blue Jays, who scored 10 second-half goals. The Bison led 7-4 at halftime and the score was tied at 9-9 at the end of three quarters of play.
Aleksic returned to the lineup and was a key cog in the offense with his three goals, while Daley equaled his career-high with three goals. Hagen notched a new career high for goals in a game. Daley added three assists and his six points in the contest are the most by a Bison player this season. He now leads the team with 15 assists this year.
Keegan Williams posted a season-high-tying 14 saves in goal, but the 14 goals allowed marked the most by a Bucknell opponent this season.
The Bison are halfway done with conference play and will face two more league opponents next weekend. They will host George Washington Saturday at 5 p.m. before traveling to Princeton for a 3 p.m. Sunday contest.
