LEWISBURG, Pa. – Three Bucknell field hockey players earned weekly awards on Monday following the Bison's shutout victories over Saint Joseph's on Friday and No. 14 Princeton on Sunday. Amie Pritchard (Rumson, N.J./Kent School (Conn.)), Liz Wills (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./William Penn Charter School) and Shannon Keen (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) all received awards from the Patriot League, while Pritchard added Bison Athlete of the Week honors.
Pritchard was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, while Wills was selected as the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week. Keen earned Goalkeeper of the Week accolades for the first time in her career.
Pritchard scored the lone goal in Bucknell's 1-0 win over Princeton, a game-winner just 2:15 into overtime to give the Bison their fourth straight win. The senior also assisted on the Bison's first goal in a 4-0 shutout of Saint Joseph's. It is the second PL Offensive Player of the Week award of Pritchard's career and her first since 2012. She ranks second on the team in both goals (2) and points (6).
Wills, a senior defender, has won conference awards in back-to-back weeks. After being recognized for her offensive prowess last week, she was tabbed as the league's top defender this week as she helped Bucknell record a pair of shutouts. She also continued her solid start to the season offensively, tallying a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Saint Joseph's. Now a two-time Defensive Player of the Week honoree, Wills leads the Patriot League with four goals and 10 points this season. She scored a goal in each of the Bison's first four games.
Keen helped Bucknell run its shutout streak to three straight games as she made three saves against Saint Joseph's and then turned in a dominant performance against nationally-ranked Princeton with seven stops. The Bison have three straight shutouts for the first time since 1999, and the team's 217:23 scoreless streak is the longest since that season. Keen has given up just one goal during the team's four-game win streak and her season GAA is 0.79.
Following a five-game road trip to open the season, the Bison will play their home opener when they host No. 16 Temple (4-2) on Saturday. The game can be seen on Bison Vision on PL Network.
