LEWISBURG, Pa. – It may be the middle of summer, but that doesn't mean members of the Bucknell swimming and diving program are relaxing on summer vacation. A number of Bison competed at the Mid-Atlantic Long Course Senior Championships last week at Kinney Natatorium and had plenty of success with a total of four school long course records falling during the competitive event.
Emma Levendoski (200 back), Amber McDonnell (200 IM, 400 IM) and Ben Seketa (200 breast) recorded new school records during the four-day meet that featured more than 100 competitors in most events.
Additionally this past weekend Louis Behnen competed at the Region VII Summer Sectionals in Columbia, Missouri, and he posted two new long course school records, setting marks in the 200 back (2:05.11) and 400 free (4:01.01).
Overall, Bucknell had 10 student-athletes in action at the Mid-Atlantic Championships.
Levendoski shaved nearly five seconds off her previous 200 back school record, touching the wall in 2:18.10, while McDonnell broke Elizabeth Porcellio's standard in the 200 IM (2:25.26) and her own mark in the 400 IM (5:00.51) en route to a third-place finish in the event.
Seketa finished third in both the 100 and 200 breast over the weekend and his time of 2:22.06 in the 200 breast broke Mike Nicholson's school standard in the event.
Levendoski, McDonnell and Seketa each placed in the championship finals of at least one event over the weekend. Jack Robinson and Brian Phillips joined them with top-eight showings, while Will Rappaport had multiple top-16 placings.
Rachel Brekovsky, Collin Greene and Lyndsey Marcheskie were also in action at the well-attended meet.
