LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell seniors Lauren Bernard and Bridget Wilcox were both named to the Women's Golf Academic All-Patriot League Team on Friday. Bernard and Wilcox also garnered All-Patriot League Team honors at the conference tournament earlier this spring. Bernard finished third at the Patriot League Championships, while Wilcox was two strokes behind her classmate in fourth.
The Patriot League All-Academic Team for women's golf consisted of five student-athletes. Bernard and Wilcox were joined by Navy's Renata Bucher, Boston University's Emily Tillo and Boston University's Kristyna Pavilckova.
Bernard and Wilcox are both management majors at Bucknell with GPAs over 3.6 and are team captains. They both have earned Dean's List honors and both had been previously named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll when the Bison competed in that conference through 2012.
Behind the strong play of Bernard and Wilcox the Bison won their first-ever Patriot League Championship title earlier this spring at Saucon Valley CC in Lehigh Valley, Pa. The Bison fired a 54-hole score total of 930 to finish three clear of Boston University.
Wilcox had a spring scoring average of 81.8. She totaled a team-high five top-20 finishes and the fourth place finish at the Patriot League Championships. Bernard led the Bison in scoring with a 79.7. With her third-place finish at the league tournament she became Bucknell's first three-time all-conference performer.
This is the second consecutive year Wilcox has been named Academic All-Patriot League, while Bernard made her first appearance on the squad.
