LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior swimmer Trevor Reitz (Boynton Beach, Florida/Gulliver Prep), was named to the 13-person Capital One Academic All-District 2 At-Large Team on Thursday. Reitz earned all-district honors for the first time, and he now moves on to the national ballot, where he will be in the running for Academic All-America honors.
A biology major with a 3.97 grade-point average, Reitz will graduate this weekend with plenty of academic awards under his belt. He is a two-time member of the Academic All-Patriot League Team and is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. A member of the CWPA All-Academic Team during his water polo tenure, Reitz was awarded the Richard and Janet Costa Advancement of Science Scholarship.
Reitz began his Bison career as a member of both the men's swimming and diving and men's water polo teams, but halfway through decided to focus on swimming.
A swimming team co-captain as a senior, Reitz was a nine-time scorer at the Patriot League Championships, capping his conference meet career by placing 12th in the 100 fly this past February. He also competed in the 100 and 200 free at his final conference championships and was part of two relays that posted program top-10 marks, helping Bucknell (7-3, 5-1 PL) to a fourth-place finish in the team standings.
Reitz will graduate ranked in the top 10 in program history in the 50 free (9th), 100 free (8th) and 100 fly (10th). He is part of 13 relays that show up in the school record book, including the record-holding 400 free relay.
Reitz is the first member of the Bison men's swimming and diving team to earn Academic All-District honors since Todd Bauer and Adam Freeman in 2005-06.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-District and Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key reserve on his/her team.
