BOSTON, Mass. – The Bucknell women's track and field team concluded an excellent weekend of competition at the Boston University Track and Field Pavilion on Sunday, tying for 18th place at the ECAC Championships with 17 points. The Bison, who tied with Temple, broke the school record in the 4x400 for the second time this weekend, and also scored points in the 500m, 800m and 4x800.
“I was so proud of our women's team this weekend,” said head coach Kevin Donner, “We had two relays make All-East, as well as two individuals, with Hana and Jenni receiving the honor. Finishing fourth in the 4x400 with a new school record will give us great momentum heading into the outdoor season.”
Connecticut won the meet with 75 points, while Cornell finished in the runner-up spot with 64 points. Liberty (44), Rutgers (40.50) and Georgetown (33) rounded out the top five. Bucknell was the highest Patriot League finisher, tying with Temple for 18th place with 17 points.
Seniors Jennifer Zymet and Hana Casalnova both competed in the finals of their respective races, finishing third and fourth respectively with incredibly strong times. Zymet claimed third in the 500m, an event in which she set the school record on Saturday, with a time of 1:13.44, while Casalnova was fourth in the 800, racing to a personal best time of 2:10.59. Her mark makes her the third-fastest performer in the event in program history.
Both relays also scored points for the Bison, beginning with the 4x800 squad of freshman Sarah Chandler, freshman Seline Tan Torres, junior Kylie Pearse and junior Morgan Roche. The quartet finished eighth with a time of 9:05.70, and the Bison carried that momentum into the final event of the meet, the 4x400. The team of sophomore Jess Bridle, Zymet, sophomore Jenn Silvestri and junior Kim Nagotko, which broke the school record on Saturday, re-broke the mark in the finals, racing to a fourth place finish with a time of 3:42.68.
The ECAC Championships marks the end of the indoor season for the squad, and the women's track and field program will now switch its focus to the outdoor season. The Bison will take to the outdoor track for the first time on March 21 and 22, when they head to Lexington, Va. to compete in the Washington & Lee Invitational.
