LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's water polo freshman Tegan Stanbach (Menlo Park, Calif./St. Francis) was named the CWPA Southern Division Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. The first-year player totaled two goals, two assists, four steals and two ejections drawn in four games at this past weekend's season-opening Bison Invitational.
Bucknell's highest-scoring freshman this past weekend, Stanbach came off the bench in all four games and was a big contributor. She scored a goal in her first career outing Saturday vs. Villanova and followed that up with one goal and two steals opposite nationally ranked Hartwick later in the day.
On Sunday, Stanbach posted one assist, one steal and an ejection drawn against No. 8 Princeton and concluded the weekend with one ejection drawn in a win against Marist.
Stanbach, who ranks fourth on the team with four points, is tied for second on the squad with four steals. She is the first Bison to earn CWPA Rookie of the Week honors since current sophomore Hannah Sunday last February.
Bucknell (2-2) will hit the road for the first time this season this weekend when it takes part in the CWPA/MAAC Crossover event in Cambridge, Mass. The Bison will play Villanova, Iona, Wagner and Siena during the two-day event.
