LEWISBURG, Pa. – Three Bison freshmen combined to post four new program top-10 marks during a women's swimming and diving quad meet at Kinney Natatorium on Saturday afternoon. Dani Potis, Julianna Foss and Tally Ford will now appear in the school's record books thanks to their performances during Bucknell's 2-1 day. The Bison defeated American (246-54) and Lafayette (248-50) and fell to Navy (164-136), one year after handing the Mids their first league loss since 2005-06.
There were 16 events contested Saturday and Navy (11) and Bucknell (5) combined to collect every first-place finish. The Mids were 3-0 on the day, while American was 1-2 and Lafayette was 0-3.
Potis posted two of Bucknell's (3-3, 2-2 PL) six runner-up finishes in the meet as she led the Bison in both the 500 and 1,000 free. Her time of 10:27.25 in the 1,000 free ranks eighth in program history, while she was the first of three consecutive Bucknell swimmers to touch the wall in the 500. Lauren Perry and Stephanie Koziol were close behind in third and fourth.
Foss was Bucknell's top performer in both the 100 and 200 fly during the meet, winning the shorter of the two events and placing second in the 200. Her time of 2:06.11 in the 200 fly places her seventh on the school's all-time list. She was one of four Bison to finish in the top six of the event. Additionally, Foss placed second in the 200 back behind teammate Emma Levendoski, who swept the backstroke events for the third time this year.
Ford had the best day of her young career on the diving boards. She won the one-meter competition with the No. 7 score (252.90) in program history, while she placed fourth off the three-meter board with the No. 8 score (237.45). Katie Hetherington was Bucknell's top finisher on the higher board, placing third.
Sophomore Rachel McGoff recorded the other victory for the Bison, winning the 200 free by .67 seconds over the runner-up. She was also the top Bucknell finisher in the 100 free, touching the wall third.
The Bison showed plenty of depth in a number of events as they had at least three of the top five finishers in five different events (100 back, 200 fly, 200 back, 500 free, 400 IM).
Bucknell will return to action Nov. 21-23 when it hosts the Bucknell Invitational at Kinney Natatorium.
