LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's swimming and diving sophomore Louis Behnen (Overland Park, Kan./Rockhurst) and junior Tyler Wenzel (Telford, Pa./Souderton) earned weekly awards from the Patriot League on Monday. Behnen was named the Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week, while Wenzel earned Patriot League Diver of the Week honors thanks to their roles in helping the Bison to a sweep of Boston U. and George Washington in a double dual Saturday at Kinney Natatorium.
Behnen won a meet-high three events as he finished first in the 200 IM, 500 free and 1,000 free. He also swam the final leg of the third-place 400 medley relay. Behnen led a 1-2-3-4 Bucknell sweep in the 500 free and his time of 1:52.89 in the 200 IM was just .07 shy of 10th place in program history.
A First Team All-Patriot League selection as a freshman last year, Behnen earned his first career Patriot League weekly award.
Wenzel also picked up his first career honor from the Patriot League after winning the one-meter diving competition and tying for second place off the three-meter board. His score of 275.45 off the one-meter board was a career-best figure and placed him third in the program's record books. Wenzel bettered his previous best by 12.20.
Wenzel is a four-time scorer at the Patriot League Championships.
Behnen and Wenzel and the rest of the Bison will be in action this Saturday, Oct. 25, with a dual meet at Pittsburgh. The new start time for the meet is 11 a.m. with diving followed by the swimming events.
