Men?s Tennis Finishes Up at Mid-Atlantic Regionals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- Bucknell has been participating in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament at the University of Virginia since last Thursday. The tournament consisted of a qualifying round, a singles draw and a doubles draw, and four Bison were invited to play.

Junior Nick Bybel received a bye in the first round of singles play, and was recognized as one of the top 16 seeds in the tournament. On Sunday, he finished up his run in match play, and will leave Charlottesville with a 2-1 record.

In the round of 16, Bybel took on Thai-son Kwiatkowski from the hosting school, Virginia. Kwiatkowski was ranked as a seventh seed in the tournament. He defeated Bybel (6-2, 6-2), ending Bucknell's run at Regionals.

This tournament marks the end of the fall season for the Bison, and Bybel finished up with a 16-2 singles record. Mid-Atlantic Regionals will continue on through Tuesday, Oct. 21 as the final singles and doubles matches take place.

The men's tennis team will be hard at work through the off-season. They are set to begin duals play in February of 2015.
