LEWISBURG, Pa. – After scoring her first career hat trick to help Bucknell to a 6-2 win over Colgate on Saturday afternoon, field hockey senior Rachel Misko (Morristown, N.J./Madison) was selected as both the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and the Bison Athlete of the Week. This marks the second time this season that a Bison field hockey player has been honored with each of these awards.
Misko, who earned a Patriot League weekly award for the second time in her career, exploded for three goals against Colgate on Saturday, sparking a five-tally second half that gave Bucknell a 6-2 win. The victory was the Bison's sixth consecutive defeat of the Raiders, and ties them with No. 20 Boston University for first place in the conference with a 2-0 league mark.
With the team down 2-1 at the half, Misko netted her first goal of the game less than five minutes into the second, drawing the Bison even with the Raiders. Just over three minutes later, she connected on a penalty stroke, giving Bucknell a lead that it would never relinquish. The forward completed the hat trick late in the game, putting the Bison up 5-2 and earning a career-high six points. Misko currently ranks second on the team with 11 points tallied on five goals and one assist.
Bucknell will continue league play on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Lafayette before traveling to Philadelphia, Pa. on Sunday, Oct. 6 for a non-conference tilt against Temple.
