PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Drexel's Elise DiDonato broke a scoreless tie with 16 minutes remaining in regulation and Margaux Lourtie added on another goal 11 minutes later to lead the Dragons to a 2-0 victory over Bucknell in field hockey action Friday evening at Buckley Field. The Bison saw their two-game winning streak come to an end as they now prepare for Sunday's home opener vs. Penn.
Bucknell (2-3) was outshot by a 15-8 margin and the Dragons held a 6-5 edge in penalty corners.
Bison goalie Erica Perrine (six saves) and Drexel's Jantien Gunter (four saves) kept the contest scoreless for more than 50 minutes before DiDonato deflected a shot by Jenna Knouse into the goal.
Nearly 11 minutes later Christina Conrad followed her own shot and got the loose ball past Perrine. Lourtie was stationed just in front of the goal and was able to tap the ball into the net to make it 2-0 with 5:03 to play.
After five consecutive games away from home, Bucknell will open a four-game homestand Sunday vs. Penn at 1 p.m.
