Number of Bucknell Swimmers Compete at Mid-Atlantic Long Course Senior Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. –Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium served as the host venue for last week's Mid-Atlantic Long Course Senior Championships and nine Bison swimmers competed at the competitive four-day meet. Erik Heinemann posted three top-three finishes in his four events to pace the Bucknell contingent, while Ben Seketa added three top-10 showings.
On the women's side, Kelly Pontecorvo had two top-eight finishes in long-distance free events, while Emma Levendoski advanced to the “B” Final of the 200-meter backstroke.
Jennifer Brennan, Stephanie Koziol, Alyssa Rollando, Jackie Shroyer and Daniel Wallace rounded out the list of Bison at the meet. Additionally, 2012 Bucknell graduate and four-time All-Patriot League selection Eric Sokolosky competed and placed third in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free.
Heinemann had a particularly impressive meet, taking second in the 200 fly after finishing first in the prelims. He also placed third in the 100 fly and 200 free, and took 17th in the 50 free, improving on his prelim finish by four spots.
Seketa's best finish of the meet (fourth) came in the 100 breast. He also made finals appearances in the 200 breast (finished sixth) and 200 IM (finished ninth).
The 2013 Patriot League champion in the 1,650 free, Pontecorvo took seventh in the 1,500 free and eighth in the 800 free last week.
Levendoski, who won the 100 and 200 back at last February's conference championships en route to Patriot League Rookie of the Meet honors, placed 14th in the 200 back last week.
Pontecorvo, Levendoski and three-time First Team All-Patriot League selection Mike Nicholson will continue to represent the Bison at prestigious summer meets at the U.S. Open July 30-Aug. 3 in Irvine, Calif.
