LEWISBURG, Pa. - Six members of the Bucknell women's rowing program's lightweight boats were named to the 2013 Intercollegiate Rowing Association's (IRA) All-Academic Team, it was announced this week. Seniors Elizabeth Aigler (Medfield, Mass./Medfield), Adrian Edmonds (Roswell, Ga./Centennial) and Ashley Rooney (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor), as well as juniors Jennifer Fish (Boston, Mass./Thayer Academy) and Christina Hanlon (Manhasset, N.Y./Phillips Exeter Academy) and sophomore Helena Craig (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) were the six Bison recognized.
Overall, there were 156 student-athletes honored with spots on the IRA All-Academic Team. Radcliffe led the way with 25 recipients, while Bucknell ranked tied for 10th. To earn a spot on the All-Academic Team, student-athletes needed to own at least a 3.35 cumulative grade-point average, be at least a sophomore and earn a varsity letter.
Aigler, Edmonds, Fish and Rooney are no strangers to academic honors as each was previously named a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete this year, while Rooney was also an Academic All-Patriot League selection last month.
In addition to her pair of academic honors this year, Edmonds was named a Lightweight All-American by the CRCA.
Bucknell's lightweight eight finished in fourth place at this year's IRA National Championship Regatta earlier this month. It marked the boat's seventh straight top-five finish at the competitive event.
