Bucknell Women's Swimming and Diving Signs Nine Newcomers for 2013-14

LEWISBURG, Pa. –Bucknell head swimming and diving coach Dan Schinnerer announced on Wednesday the nine recruits that will join the Bison women's program in the fall. Bucknell saw six seniors graduate last month and this class will bolster an already impressive group of returning student-athletes as the Bison look to remain near the top of the competitive Patriot League.
“We are very excited about the Class of 2017,” commented Schinnerer as he prepares for his eighth season at the helm of the Bison. “This group of young women will provide both quality and depth to our team across all events. Taken as a whole this class will definitely have an immediate impact on our team. This group is excited for the challenges of a new, expanded Patriot League. Coming off our successful season, we are very excited to have a strong core of returners coming back for the 2013-14 campaign. Coupled with this incoming class, we expect our team to be able to continue to make significant improvements.”
The incoming nine recruits represent seven states with three Pennsylvania natives among the group. Included in the class is the younger sister of Bucknell junior All-Patriot League performer Lauren Perry.
Bucknell was 5-5 in dual meets in 2012-13 and finished in second place at the Patriot League Championships. The Bison collected a program record-tying seven individual crowns at the conference meet en route to their second runner-up finish in the last four years. Bucknell will open its 2013-14 schedule Saturday, Oct. 5, against UMBC at Kinney Natatorium.
