Elizabeth Porcellio Receives Senior Athletic Award at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Elizabeth Porcellio (Fairport, N.Y./Penfield), a member of the Bison women's swimming and diving team, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held at the Elaine Langone Center on Tuesday, April 30.
Porcellio won the Bison Club Award, presented to senior athletes "who best exemplify the winning spirit of the University's athletic program." Porcellio shared the award with Leonard Joseph of the men's track and field team, who was the male selection.
In addition to Porcellio, several other student-athletes were honored at the banquet, including the winners of the Christy Mathewson Award, given to the most outstanding athletes in the senior class.
A four-time Second Team All-Patriot League selection, Porcellio earned her second straight Academic All-Patriot League Award this past winter. She is also a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and a six-time Dean's List member with a 3.83 grade-point average while majoring in neuroscience.
The senior tied for 17th in points scored at this past February's Patriot League Championships thanks to a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM, a fifth-place showing in the 400 IM and a seventh-place finish in the 200 breast. She posted the No. 4 time in school history in the 400 IM and the No. 5 time in the 200 breast. Porcellio ended her Patriot League career having scored in 12 individual events over the last four years. She is listed in the top 10 in program history in six events.
A member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor Society, Porcellio has spent time volunteering at a local food bank and has served as Social Awareness Director, Junior Honor Board Member and Vice President: Social Standards for Delta Gamma sorority.
Bucknell is a highly selective, privately endowed liberal arts institution with an enrollment of approximately 3,500 undergraduate students. Bucknell competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Patriot League and has full membership along with American, Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy. Bucknell has won the Presidents' Cup, signifying the Patriot League's all-sports champion, in 17 of 22 years, including 13 of the last 15.
