
Tayler Siegrist Receives Senior Athletic Award at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Tayler Siegrist (Madison, N.J./Madison), a captain on the field hockey and track and field teams, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held in Terrace Room on Tuesday, April 30.
Siegrist won the Bryan-Humphreys Award, presented "to a student-athlete who has exhibited exceptional versatility within his/her sport, displaying outstanding achievement and selfless determination to help the team succeed by contributing in a variety of ways." Siegrist shared the award with Ryan Gutowski of the football and men's lacrosse teams, who was the male selection.
Siegrist has been a standout on the field hockey turf, where she is a two-time all-league honoree, and in track and field, where she qualified for the NCAA East Preliminaries in the last two springs. A defender with Bison field hockey, she received Second Team All-Patriot League accolades as a sophomore followed by a First Team citation as a senior. In her final campaign, she led Bucknell with 22 points and finished her career ranked eighth all-time in program history with 16 assists. Siegrist has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week multiple times while starting all 77 possible games in her career.
In the javelin, Siegrist broke into the program's top 10 in her first collegiate meet. She has since improved to fourth in Bucknell annals with a career-best throw of 144-1. A native of Madison, N.J., Siegrist has placed as high as third in the event at the Patriot League Championships. She is also a three-time qualifier for the ECAC Championships.
Academically, Siegrist collected her greatest achievement last fall when she was named the Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year. A management major with a 3.80 grade-point average, Siegrist has been named to the Bucknell Dean's and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll every term. She is also a four-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Academic Squad selection, a two-time Academic All-Patriot League Team selection and has twice been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team.
Bucknell is a highly-selective, privately endowed liberal arts institution with an enrollment of 3,500 undergraduate students. Bucknell competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Patriot League and has full membership along with American, Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy. Bucknell has won the Presidents' Cup, signifying the Patriot League's all-sports champion, in 17 of 22 years, including 13 of the last 15.
Bucknell annually ranks among the national leaders in graduation rate and is fifth in Division I in the total number of CoSIDA Academic All-America selections, with 123 national Academic All-Americans since 1970.
