LEWISBURG, Pa. - After four years as Bucknell field hockey's Jeremy Cook's top assistant, Jamie Montgomery was promoted to associate head coach, it was announced on Wednesday. Montgomery has been an integral part of a coaching staff that has led the Bison to four consecutive Patriot League Tournament berths, including a championship appearance in 2011.
"Jamie has been instrumental in the success we have had over the last four years and has challenged and pushed our student-athletes both in training and with their studies," said Cook. "She has grown into a role that fits her new title, and I look forward to working alongside her as our program develops."
Bucknell has averaged nearly 10 wins per season in the last four years giving it its most successful stretch in more than a decade. The Bison also qualified for the Patriot League Tournament in five consecutive campaigns for the first time in program history from 2008-12.
Montgomery was a two-time National Champion during her playing days at Wake Forest and was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference, All-NCAA Tournament and Second Team All-America selection before graduating. She joined Bucknell in 2009 after a turn as a graduate assistant coach at Temple.
In 2012, Bucknell finished 9-10 overall and 3-2 in the Patriot League. The Bison allowed just 2.0 goals per game under Montgomery's tutelage during the campaign.
