LEWISBURG, Pa. - Just days before the start of the Patriot League Championships, Bucknell track and field's Caroline Tolli (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) and Anthony Menza (Englishtown, N.J./Manalapan) received weekly honors from the conference. Tolli was selected the Patriot League Runner of the Week, while Menza captured Rookie of the Week honors on Monday. It was the first outdoor track award of both Bison's careers.
Tolli's success came at the Penn Relays on April 25. The senior placed 12th in the 3,000 meters, running a career-best 9:45.41. That time, which qualifies her for the ECAC Championships, also ranks fourth in program history. Tolli was not ranked among the top 10 in the event entering the meet. She is now a part of eight outdoor record lists at Bucknell.
Menza competed in the 400 meters at the Bloomsburg Maroon & Gold Open. The freshman finished third overall with a time of 49.01 seconds. It was his second consecutive top-three finish in the event and the time was his fastest of his career.
Bucknell will be competing in the Patriot League Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 3-4 at Bethlehem, Pa. Tolli and the women's squad will be looking for their third outdoor title while Menza and the men will be eyeing their fourth consecutive team trophy.
