Bison Men's Golf Wraps Up Play at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Bucknell men's golf team had a rough final day at the Navy Invitational, posting a 331 Sunday at the USNA Golf Course. The Bison started with a promising 304 and stood in eighth place out of 21 teams entering the final day, but they slipped to 16th in the final standings.
Schuyler Stitzer led the Bison with a 78 on Sunday. Peter Scialabba followed with an 83. Jon Hartman and J.J. Szmadzinski both shot 85, and Dan Bernard, who started well with a 73, finished with an 86.
Penn and Virginia both posted 599 over 36 holes, and the Quakers took the team title in a playoff. Virginia Tech and Wake Forest tied for third at 601, and Long Island took fifth at 603.
A 2-under-par 69 vaulted Joe Gunerman of Towson to the individual title. He shot a 2-over 144 for the tournament, one better than Evan Beck of Wake Forest and Trevor Cone of Virginia Tech.
Next up for the Bison is the Patriot League Championship. Lehigh will host the conference tourney at Saucon Valley Country Club on Apr. 27-28.
