Bucknell Women's Water Polo Earns No. 8 Seed for Upcoming Eastern Championship

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Collegiate Water Polo Association on Monday announced the seeds for the upcoming Eastern Championship, scheduled for April 26-28 in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Bison women's team is seeded eighth in the 12-team field and will open the three-day tournament against ninth-seeded Mercyhurst.
Bucknell (6-17, 2-3 CWPA) is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Southern Championships. The Bison are 3-0 against their first-round opponent Mercyhurst (13-13) this season, including a 9-4 win Sunday at the Southern Championships.
Bucknell and Mercyhurst will play the first game at the Eastern Championship as their contest is slated for 10 a.m. on the Friday. The winner will play top-seeded Indiana that afternoon at 3:20, while the loser will play Saturday at noon against either fifth-seeded Brown or 12th-seeded Connecticut College.
The Bison finished in eighth place at last year's Eastern Championship. They defeated George Washington in their opener and then lost three straight games to Michigan, Hartwick and Harvard.
