Bucknell Women's Rowing Advances Five Boats to Finals at Murphy Cup

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (Cooper River) -The Bucknell women's rowing team opened its 2013 season Saturday at the Murphy Cup and advanced five boats to the finals of the competitive event. Two Bison boats advanced to the finals of the varsity eight, while Bucknell's JV eight and freshman eight appeared in the finals as well. The best finish of the day was a Bison victory in the varsity four.
Bucknell's lightweight four crew raced in the varsity four category and placed first of three teams in the final. The freshman four posted a third-place finish, while the JV eight was fifth. Bucknell's second varsity eight placed fifth in the varsity eight finals, one spot ahead of their varsity eight teammates.
Seven Bison boats were in action on Saturday as the JV eight "B" boat and freshman four raced in heats but did not make finals appearances.
Bucknell will next be in action Saturday, April 6, when it races against Drexel and Penn on the Schuylkill River.
