CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Christian Treat and Ben Seketa finished in the top eight of the 100 breast to lead the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team on the second day of the ECAC Championships Saturday at Harvard's Blodgett Pool. Treat placed fourth in the event, while Seketa was eighth. Both also scored as part of relay teams with Treat helping the 200 medley relay to a sixth-place finish and Seketa swimming the final leg of the fifth-place 800 free relay.
Bucknell finished the second day of the three-day ECAC Championships in fifth place in the team standings. Boston U. remained in first place.
Treat finished sixth in the 100 breast in the prelims and improved that placing two spots in the finals as he jumped up to fourth. He trimmed .34 seconds off his prelims time, touching the wall in 56.11 in the finals. Seketa was less than a second behind (56.95) in eighth place.
The only other individual event the Bison had a pair of scorers was the 400 IM that saw freshman Will Rappaport place 12th and classmate Jeff Shanley take 16th.
Mike Nicholson, who placed third in the 200 IM on Friday, took 13th in the 100 fly on Saturday. His time of 50.31 in the prelims ranks 10th in program history. It is the sixth different event in which he ranks in the top 10, joining the 1,000 free (8th), 200 breast (1st), 200 fly (1st), 200 IM (1st) and 400 IM (1st).
Daniel Wallace, who placed 12th in the 200 free, rounded out the list of Bison individual scorers.
The ECAC Championships will wrap up Sunday. Prelims are scheduled for 9 a.m., while the finals will commence at 4 p.m.
