
Bucknell Women's Water Polo Wraps Up Roadrunner Invitational with Losses to No. 20 Pacific and Wagner

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. –Hannah Sunday scored a team-high two goals in each game, but the Bucknell women's water polo team wrapped up the Roadrunner Invitational Sunday with a pair of losses. The Bison dropped their first game by an 11-5 score against No. 20 Pacific and then fell to Wagner by an 8-6 margin.
Bucknell's (3-8) offense was supplied by the same group of players in both contests. Sunday finished the day with four goals, while Julianne Valdes, Mackenzie Ferry and Barbara Peterson scored one goal in each game. Krystle Morgan chipped in a score in the nightcap against the Seahawks.
Goalie Rena Heim posted nine saves against Pacific and 12 against Wagner. She now has 111 on the season and 513 in her career.
The Bison fell behind 7-0 in the first half against nationally ranked Pacific and were never able to draw closer than six the rest of the way. Against Wagner, Bucknell was down just 5-3 at the half, but the Seahawks netted three of the first four scores in the second half. Sunday's two goals - one in the third period and one in the fourth - made the final margin two.
The Bison will continue their 11-game trip to California with a 10 p.m. Eastern game on Tuesday at No. 9 Long Beach State.
