
Bison Men's Tennis Comes Back for 4-3 Win over Niagara

OLEAN, N.Y. – Bucknell men's tennis rallied back from losing the doubles point to defeat Niagara 4-3 at Olean, N.Y., on Saturday afternoon. Kyle Rosen clinched the victory for the Bison, following Nick Bybel, Kelly Morque and Josh Katten in the wins column. Bucknell is now 2-2 on the year and will look for its third win tomorrow against St. Bonaventure.
Bybel was the first to put Bucknell on the board with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles. The freshman cruised past Brandon Gallegos for the win, evening the match at one point apiece. Niagara then won the next battle at third singles as Olivier Dufour-Coursol took down Evan Zimmer in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, but Bucknell again tied things up thanks to Morque.
Morque and Katten both fought their way through three-set matches as well to eventually pull in front and set Rosen up to clinch the team win. Morque defeated David Raymond 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 at second singles and Katten was a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 winner over Lorenz Schwojer at the No. 4 position.
Bucknell pulled out the comeback with Rosen's 6-0, 6-4 decision over Joseph Smithyman at sixth singles. Rosen has now won three consecutive matches for the Bison, evening his season singles record at 5-5.
Bucknell was forced to play catch-up after Niagara won the doubles point. Only Octavio Canibe and Aidan Lynch were able to come away with the victory in the early goings, defeating Mathieu Lacasse and Smithyman by a score of 8-4 at the No. 3 spot.
The Bison will be back in action tomorrow against St. Bonaventure. The Bison-Bonnies matchup is set for a 10 a.m. start.
