Bucknell Women's Soccer Places League-High 20 Student-Athletes on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Twenty of the 25 student-athletes on the Bucknell women's soccer squad qualified for the 2012 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced Friday. That total tied for the league high this year, and it marked the fifth straight year that at least 20 Bison made the Honor Roll.
Coach Ben Landis' squad posted a 3.53 combined grade-point average during the fall semester, one of the highest marks in the country and the best among Bucknell's 27 varsity sports.
Bucknell and American both placed 20 student-athletes on the Honor Roll, followed by Lehigh with 14 and Lafayette with 13. Army and Holy Cross tied with nine selections each, while Navy had eight and Colgate five. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average during the semester of their sport's competition.
Among Bucknell's 20 Honor Roll members are seniors Meghan Fitzpatrick and Sandita McDermott. Both were named to the 11-player Academic All-Patriot League Team in the fall, while Fitzpatrick also earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District Team for the second year in a row.
Fitzpatrick, Emily Trosch, Chelsey Garkowski and Alex Rosen all earned perfect 4.0 GPAs last semester.
