Bison Soccer Teams Earn NSCAA Academic Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell men's and women's soccer teams have both earned their annual spots on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award lists. A total of 863 college teams (270 men, 593 women) earned awards by posting a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2012-13 academic year. Bucknell was one of 184 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.
The Bucknell women's team posted a 3.51 team GPA, while the Bison men recorded a 3.41 combined GPA. The women's squad has now been honored in all 17 years the award has been given, while the men's team has been recognized in 16 of the last 17 years.
On Tuesday, senior Joe Meyer earned First Team Capital One Academic All-America honors. Meyer was a Third Team choice last year, and he is also a two-time member of the Patriot League All-Academic Team. Hannah Bonotto and Evelyn Nicincki of the women's squad made the Patriot League All-Academic Team this fall, and Bonotto was a Capital One Academic All-District choice.
In the coming weeks the NSCAA will announce its Scholar All-America teams.
