Rachel Misko and Vickie Resh Selected to NFHCA All-Region Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The accolades keep coming for the Bucknell field hockey team, as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its All-Region honors this week, and seniors Rachel Misko (Morristown, N.J.) and Vickie Resh (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg Area) both earned selections to the Mideast Region second team. It is the first time that each of the Bison were honored with this particular recognition.
A 2013 first team All-Patriot league selection, Resh was a dynamic member of a strong Bucknell backfield unit this season. Largely due to her contributions, the Bison held their opponents to just 1.78 goals per game and 8.7 shots per game throughout the 2013 campaign. A starter in all 18 contests, she scored one goal and added three assists, earning Bison Athlete of the Week honors on Sept. 9 after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime against Ohio State and giving Bucknell its first win over a Big Ten opponent since 2000.
Misko, a 2013 second team All-Patriot League selection and the conference's field hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year, most recently earned All-Tournament honors in the postseason. She is one of only 12 players in conference history to earn four selections to the All-Patriot League team, and she ranked among the Bison in goals (9) and points (19), both of which were single-season career highs, this season. She is also one of the top offensive performers in the conference, ranking first in points (14), goals (7) and game-winning goals (2), as well as second in shots (23) in Patriot League play for the 2013 campaign. Misko was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30 after recording a hat trick in Bucknell's 6-2 win over Colgate, and then earned her second Offensive Player of the Week award and the third of her career on Oct. 7 after scoring the game-winning goal against Lafayette.
While the Bison have completed their 2013 season, Resh will play one more game as a collegiate field hockey player, as she was invited to compete in the 2013 Front Rush/NFHCA Division I Senior Game on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2:15 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex in Virginia Beach, Va.
