The past three meets have been a true test of team unity, support, and persistence. So far, we have swum against UMBC, George Washington and Pitt. And by no means have any of these meets been painless. Seeing as how we have finally transitioned into the core of our season's training, we are working tirelessly in and out of the pool in order to succeed and improve. Excuses aside, in recent weeks, I think that we have really come together as a team. The strenuous practices have really taken a toll on our bodies, but we remain a close-knit team, supporting each other whenever possible, and maintaining a cohesive environment. Moving past our meet against Pitt, we are looking forward to every new opportunity to improve. Every practice, every dry-land, every meet holds something new and presents a new challenge. The next meet we are looking forward to is a quad meet against Lafayette, Navy, and American. Then, starting on Friday, Nov. 22, we will be hosting the Bucknell Invitational. This meet is particularly exciting because we are finally able to gauge our true progress. A taper meet is always something to look forward to, as it heightens the team's energy and results with some really exciting races.
On another note, I would just like to say that coming into my sophomore year I was inundated with a mix of emotions. I had already acquainted myself with Bucknell and my team, but I was still unsure as to what the year would bring. I had heard that sophomore year was full of new experiences and new challenges, but I was unaware exactly what that entailed. So far, sophomore year has really changed my personal definition of the word “busy”. It's shocking, but there are a whole new slew of responsibilities that come with being a sophomore -- harder classes, new teammates, new dynamic. It's been different and difficult, but fun. The freshmen add a really fun dynamic to the team, and it's been great getting to welcome them to the Bucknell community. Personally, I've been able to hone in on my time management skills, something that will translate into my life beyond Bucknell.
Overall, this year has started with some great challenges, but also has reaped some great rewards. I think I speak for the team when I say that I'm looking forward to the rest of the season and ready to see what the rest of the year has in store for us.
