Bucknell Baseball Releases 2014 Schedule

LEWISBURG, Pa. – A season-opening four-game series at South Carolina, a visit to Depew Field by Penn State and four home weekend four-game series highlight Bucknell baseball's 2014 schedule, which second-year head coach Scott Heather announced Wednesday. The Bison will also make their annual week-long spring break trip to Florida to play in the Russ Matt Invitational.
The season will open Friday, Feb. 14, with the first contest in a four-game set against South Carolina at the Gamecocks' Carolina Stadium, a venue Bucknell last visited during the 2010 NCAA Tournament. South Carolina captured national titles in 2010 and 2011 and was the national runner-up in 2012.
The Bison are scheduled to play a total of 20 home games in 2014 with the home slate kicking off with a four-game series against Niagara March 1-2. Bucknell will also host Patriot League foes Navy (March 29-30), Lehigh (April 5-6) and Holy Cross (April 26-27) in home weekend series.
Penn State will make its appearance in Lewisburg March 23. The teams will play a doubleheader the day before at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park and then travel east to Depew Field for another doubleheader. It will mark Penn State's first visit to Bucknell since 2004.
The non-conference home schedule will conclude April 22 with a doubleheader against St. Bonaventure.
This year's spring break trip to Winter Haven, Fla., is slated for March 9-15. The Bison will play seven games during the week.
Bucknell will also play non-league road games at Delaware State (Feb. 22-23), Mount St. Mary's (March 19), Binghamton (March 25) and Towson (April 16). The Bison will play Patriot League road series at Army (April 12-13) and Lafayette (April 19-20).
