Bucknell's Nicholson Repeats at Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. - After taking a piece of six gold medals and helping Bucknell men's swimming and diving to a 1-1 record against conference foes Colgate and Army, Mike Nicholson was named the Patriot League Swimmer of the Week. Nicholson claimed the award for the second consecutive voting period and the fourth time this season.
Nicholson was a member of the winning 200 medley relay in both meets last weekend. Against Colgate, he and his teammates finished in 1:35.29. They finished more than one second faster the next day opposite Army, taking first place in1:34.05.
The relay was the only race in which Nicholson repeated. The junior was the victor in the 100 breaststroke (58.32) and 200 backstroke (1:57.77) as he helped the Bison to a 193-92 team win against the Raiders. The following day, he stood atop the podium in the 200 butterfly (1:49.66) and the 200 breaststroke (2:05.19) in a narrow 165-135 loss to the Black Knights.
Nicholson has now been named the Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week 10 times in his career, including three times in both his freshman and sophomore campaigns.
Bucknell will return to the pool Jan. 26 when it hosts Lehigh at Kinney Natatorium. Competition is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
