LEWISBURG, Pa. -- It was a special evening on Wednesday at Graham Field, as the Bucknell-Cornell field hockey contest was preceded by a ceremony to dedicate the brand new Margaret "Peg" Bryan Memorial Scoreboard.
Under cloudless skies on a beautiful, warm evening, Bison field hockey captain Tayler Siegrist and women's lacrosse captain Madison Hurwitz cut the ribbon on the new scoreboard. Director of athletics & recreation John Hardt, senior associate AD Maisha Kelly and associate AD Terrie Grieb presided over the ceremony. Grieb represented the late Peg Bryan and her family, as she coached under Bryan at Bucknell back in the 1970s.
Bryan was a member of the Bucknell faculty for 36 years, and she was the first director of women's intercollegiate athletics at Bucknell. She played a leading role in the establishment of Bucknell's women's intercollegiate varsity athletics program in 1974, and prior to that she was active in all phases of women's intercollegiate competition. In 1981, Bryan received the Bison Club Award for contributions to Bucknell's athletic program, and in 1991 she was inducted into the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame.
Bison Athletics and the field hockey and women's lacrosse programs would like to sincerely thank all of the donors who helped bring this scoreboard to light, in particular Laura Kinney, Class of 1981 and a member of the Board of Trustees, who spearheaded the fundraising drive.
