LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell freshman Mike Lansing (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) earned Brine Patriot League Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week honors after the Bison defeated Lehigh on Sunday evening. This is Lansing's second time receiving the honor of Goalkeeper of the Week and third time being recognized by the Patriot League, as he was named Rookie of the Week on Aug. 27.
The game against Lehigh marked the fifth Bison victory of the season, and now a 1-0 Patriot League record for the season. Lansing made seven saves against Lehigh for Bucknell's fourth shutout so far this season. As the first Patriot League game of the season for both teams, the Bison now stand at the top of the Patriot League alongside Navy and Holy Cross.
Lansing recorded his third shutout of the year and improved his already league-leading save percentage to .896 and his goals-against average to 0.66. He also leads the Patriot League with an average of 6.14 saves per game.
Bucknell's five game winning streak is its longest since 2009, when it had six victories in a row. The team's four straight shutouts are a tie for the second longest shutout streak in program history. Heading into Tuesday's game against St. Joseph's, the Bison are currently at a scoreless streak of 381:07. The program record is 559:40, with six full shutouts, in 1983. The Bison are at home against the Hawks tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. at Emmitt Field.
