ITHACA, N.Y. -- Heavy rain in Central New York limited day one of the Cornell Invitational to 18 holes instead of 36, but the Bucknell men's golf team made the most of it and are just six shots off the lead at the halfway mark of the tournament. Paced by a 1-over-par 73 from red-hot senior Dan Bernard, the Bison posted a 300 team score and sit in fourth place out of 13 teams.
St. Bonaventure has the lead after compiling a 294 team total. Binghamton is three shots back at 297, followed by Fordham at 299 and Bucknell at 300. Canisius (301), Cornell (303) and Lafayette (304) are all within four shots of the Bison.
Bernard, who won the Bucknell Invitational last week, sits in a tie for sixth place after his opening-round 73. He is three shots off the individual lead, as Cornell's Zack Bosse fired a 2-under 70.
Luke Edelman (74) and Schuyler Stitzer (75) were both not far behind Bernard. Zach Pogust and Thomas Walter both shot 78.
Pete Scialabba also made the trip and is playing as an individual. He shot 82 on Saturday.
The final round gets underway Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
