LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bison men's golf team hosts its annual fall tournament on Friday and Saturday at the Bucknell Golf Club. The Bucknell Invitational consists of 54 holes on Friday and 18 more on Sunday. Admission is free.
Bucknell will have two five-man teams entered, and the Bison will be joined by Patriot League rivals Lehigh and Colgate, along with Canisius, Hampton, Laval and Messiah.
Bucknell has a deep team this season and should have two quality teams in action. The Orange team is the more experienced of the two units, featuring seniors Pete Scialabba.
The Blue team will have juniors Thomas Walter and Billy Wright, sophomore Zach Pogust and freshmen Luke Edelman and Nick Geissler.
Bucknell opened the season last week at Colgate and finished in third place, posting rounds of 308 and 310. Bernard was the team's top finisher. He placed T-10th with scores of 76-77. Stitzer (75-79), Pogust (77-78), Edelman (80-76) and Geissler (83-80) also played last week.
Bucknell has been very successful at this event in recent years, winning six of the last nine titles. The Bison had won it four years in a row before finishing fourth last season. In 2010, the Bison came from four shots behind at the start of the final round to defeat Robert Morris by just one stroke. Hartman closed with rounds of 68-69 to finish in second place individually, three shots behind Robert Morris' C.G. Mercatoris.
Following the Bucknell Invitational, the Bison will be back in action the following weekend at the Cornell Invitational.
