LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell head swimming and diving coach Dan Schinnerer on Friday announced the addition of Mike Ginder and Kristine Mann to the Bison staff as assistant coaches.
"We are very excited to have both Kristine and Mike join the Bucknell Swimming and Diving Staff," said Schinnerer, who is entering his seventh year on the Kinney Natatorium deck. "They bring great experience and energy to our program and we are excited to start the new season."
A 16-time All-American swimmer at Washington & Lee, Ginder put together an impressive four-year career with the Generals. He captured eight individual conference titles, was a two-time conference MVP and was named team MVP four times. A team captain as a senior, Ginder graduated in 2007 with three individual and five relay school records. He was voted as the Washington & Lee Most Valuable Senior Male Athlete.
Since graduation, Ginder has gained plenty of coaching experience. Most recently, he spent one year as a volunteer assistant at Georgetown University while also completing his master's degree in professional studies in sports industry management. His thesis was on proposed changes to NCAA recruiting bylaws.
Prior to his time at Georgetown, Ginder spent one year as an assistant at Catholic University, where he was part of a staff named Coaching Staff of the Year in the Landmark Conference. Ginder also spent a few months as an intern with the United States Golf Association, where he assisted with the merchandise operations of more than 30 vendors at the 2011 U.S. Open in Bethesda, Md.
Ginder got his start in coaching at his alma mater. He spent three years as an assistant with the Generals, gaining experience in all facets of coaching.
Ginder has stayed busy during the summers, working camps at Virginia and Navy, as well as serving as a coach at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club.
