LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell was well represented at the USA Field Hockey Women's National Championship at the University of Maryland last week. Bison rising junior Vickie Resh (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) and assistant coach Jamie Montgomery were members of the backfield on the New Jersey squad that went undefeated in the tournament and captured the championship game, 4-0, against Pennsylvania. It was the fourth consecutive title for New Jersey.
Three other Bison players - Rachel Misko (Morristown, N.J./Madison), Kelsey Mucelli (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) and Erica Perrine (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) - were members of the New Jersey training squad that helped in the team's preparation for the tournament.
"It was a tough month of training, but it was so much fun to play side-by-side with the girls I coach," said Montgomery, a fourth-year assistant, about the experience. "We're really lucky to be so well represented by such a hard-working group of players."
A midfielder, Resh started all 20 games a year ago for Bucknell. She registered one goal and one assist.
Misko (4 goals, 5 assists), Mucelli (18 starts) and Perrine (team-high 101 saves) were also key cogs on a Bison squad that was 8-12 and advanced to the championship game of the Patriot League Tournament in 2011.
