LEWISBURG, Pa. - Two regular-season Patriot League football games will air this fall on CBS Sports Network and Bucknell is involved in one. The Sept. 22 contest between the Bison and in-state rival Lafayette will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network. The game will kick off at noon at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
The Lafayette contest will mark the home opener for Bucknell, which is coming off a 6-5 campaign, a school-record-tying five-win improvement from the previous fall. Additionally, Family Weekend will be held on the Bucknell campus, adding to an already festive weekend.
The Bison defeated the Leopards 39-13 last year in a snowstorm in Easton, Pa. It was Bucknell's first victory over Lafayette since 2001 and the largest Bison win in the series since 1971.
Lafayette finished with a 4-7 overall mark in 2011 and was 1-4 in Patriot League play. The Leopards were in fifth place in the final conference standings, one spot behind the Bison, who were 2-3 against Patriot League competition.
Bucknell last played a game that aired on CBS Sports Network in 2010 when it hosted Cornell. Brandon Wesley completed 25 of 45 passes for a career-high 267 yards that afternoon, but the Bison lost to the Big Red by a 21-12 score in front of a Family Weekend crowd of nearly 8,000.
The other Patriot League game that will be televised by CBS Sports Network in 2012 is the Nov. 10 matchup between Colgate and Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa.
Bucknell will open the 2012 campaign with two straight road games - Sept. 8 at Marist and Sept. 15 at Delaware. The Bison will have five total home contests. In addition to the Lafayette game, Bucknell will host Cornell (Sept. 29), Colgate (Oct. 27), Fordham (Nov. 3) and Bryant (Nov. 17).
