Bryce Robertson Receives Senior Athletic Award at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Bryce Robertson (Reserve, La./East St. John), a member of the Bison football team, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held at the Elaine Langone Center on Tuesday, May 1.
Robertson won the Ronald J. "Pete" Pedrick Award, presented to senior athletes "who through his/her actions has demonstrated improvement and special contributions to Bucknell athletics over a four-year period." Robertson shared the award with Emily Liggett of the women's cross country/track and field team and Billy Eisenreich of the men's lacrosse team.
In addition to Robertson, several other student-athletes were honored at the banquet, including the winners of the Christy Mathewson Award, given to the most outstanding athletes in the senior class.
Robertson led the NCAA in interceptions in 2011 with 13. He was named and FCS All-American by four prestigious organizations (Associated Press, The Sports Network, Walter Camp, Phil Steele) and was the selected as the CFPA Elite Defensive Back award recipient.
As a senior, Robertson was selected to the First Team All-Patriot League and was a member of the Patriot League All-Academic Team and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
During his senior campaign Robertson broke both Bucknell's 41-year-old single-season record for interceptions and the Patriot League's 24-year-old record for interceptions in a season. He was one of only two players in all of college football (FCS & FBS) with double-figure interceptions in 2011. His 13 interceptions was one shy of FCS single-season record.
Robertson set a program single-season record with 184 interception return yards. He was a pivotal member of a Bucknell defense that forced and FCS-high 39 turnovers and led the country in turnover margin (+2.45). He finished his four-year career with 104 tackles, 14 interceptions, 4 tackles for loss and 24 passes defended.
Off the field Robertson serves as a Resident Assistant, is a member of T.E.A.M Mentor Program that mentors freshmen to help ease their transition to college and is a service project manager for management class. In his free time away from campus Robertson volunteers at Lewisburg-area church handing out goods to the homeless and is an actively involved with the Lewisburg Elementary School reading books to children.
Bucknell is a highly selective, privately endowed liberal arts institution with an enrollment of approximately 3,500 undergraduate students. Bucknell competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Patriot League and has full membership along with American, Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy. Bucknell has won the Presidents' Cup, signifying the Patriot League's all-sports champion, in 17 of 21 years, including 13 of the last 14.
