Bucknell Men's Tennis Heads Away for Two Key Patriot League Matches

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team will travel Thursday to West Point, N.Y., for a match against Army (12-9, 3-0 PL) at 3 p.m., before heading to Easton, Pa., on Sunday to battle Lafayette (3-9, 1-3 PL) at 2:30 p.m. The Bison are 6-11 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League heading into the two league contests.
Bucknell is coming of off two consecutive home matches against George Mason and Colgate. The Bison lost to George Mason by the score of 4-3 and took down Patriot League opponent Colgate, 4-3.
Bucknell beat Colgate much in part to the strong doubles play of partners Gregg Cohenca and Aiden Lynch along with Evan Zimmer and Josh Katten. After taking the team doubles point, the Bison clinched the match over the Raiders with three of six wins in singles play.
The Bison will head into Thursday's contest with a 3-25 all-time record against Army. The last time these two teams met in the spring of 2011, Bucknell lost to Army in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament, 4-2.
The Black Knights have faced three Patriot League adversaries so far this season, with all three matches going in favor of Army. In their most recent league match the Black Knights defeated Colgate by the score of 6-1. Earlier in the season, Army took down both Patriot League opponents Lafayette and Holy Cross, 7-0. The Black Knights will travel for their remaining league contests to Navy and Lehigh.
After its bout with Army, Bucknell will travel to Lafayette in another important Patriot League matchup. The Leopards are 1-3 in league bouts this season with their one victory coming over Holy Cross, 6-1. Lafayette lost earlier in the season to Army, 6-1, and Navy, 7-0. The Leopards most recent loss came at the hands of Colgate, 5-2. Bucknell beat Lafayette in the spring of 2011 by the score of 6-1 and the Bison hold the all-time series lead at 44-20.
Bucknell will wrap up its three-match road trip at Lehigh next Tuesday. Start time for the final Patriot League regular-season match is 3:30 p.m.
