Bucknell Women's Rowing has Successful Showing at Occoquan Sprints

FAIRFAX, Va. (Occoquan Reservoir) –The Bucknell women's rowing team traveled to the Occoquan Sprints Sunday and had five boats compete. The Bison entered three varsity eight boats into races and all three placed in the top seven in the 13-boat field.
Additionally, the Bison second varsity eight and novice eight boats were in action and had strong showings. The second varsity eight placed third in its heat to earn a spot in the finals and finished fourth there. The novice eight captured its heat by nearly eight seconds over Old Dominion and then won its final by nearly eight seconds over Delaware.
The Bucknell varsity eights had plenty of success on Sunday as the boats that had coxswains Jacqueline McKeone and Alexandra Higbee finished second and third in one heat, while the boat with Katherine Anderson as coxswain won its heat. McKeone's boat then finished third in the final, one spot ahead of Anderson's. Higbee's won the petite final to finish seventh overall.
Bucknell will host its only home competition of the year Saturday, April 7, on the Susquehanna River. The Bison will host Drexel and the Princeton Lightweights. Start time is 8 a.m.
