Bucknell Men's Tennis Fall Short to Villanova, 5-2

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Bison men's tennis team (5-8) traveled to Villanova (4-8) Wednesday afternoon and were defeated by the Wildcats, 5-2. Bucknell managed to win the doubles point but were not able to respond to the singles pressure the Wildcats applied late in the match.
Evan Zimmer and Josh Katten won their No. 2 doubles match by the score of 8-4. The two beat Matt Colonnese and Tim Abbracciamento to pick up one of the two doubles wins for the Bison.
Zimmer is now 23-5 in doubles during his 2011-12 campaign. The win puts him two away from cracking the top 10 all-time doubles victories at Bucknell.
Doubles partners Kelly Morque and Scott Bernstein also fought to an 8-5 victory over Ryan Peyton and Michael Rosengren at the No. 3 doubles slot.
The men had a tough time getting started in the singles matches. Zimmer got the only victory for the Bison and his second of the afternoon winning his No. 2 singles bout 6-1, 6-2.
Both Katten and Kyle Rosen battled in their contests and each fell in three-set matches. Katten lost his No. 4 bout against Rosengren and Rosen lost to Mark Miller.
The Bison will look to rebound Friday at 3 p.m. against Georgetown for its second away match of the week.
