EMMITSBURG, Md. - Due to a rainy afternoon and limited court availability, Bucknell tennis was forced to suspend its match at Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday. Both the Bison men's and women's teams earned the doubles point to take early leads on The Mount. The match will resume with the completion of singles on March 31.
In addition to the shortened day in Emmitsburg, Md., the Bucknell women's squad has had its match against Saint Francis (Pa.) canceled. The matchup between the Bison and Red Flash was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the Bucknell Tennis Courts. The Bison will now look toward their home opener on Saturday against Patriot League foe Navy at 11 a.m.
Against Mount St. Mary's, the Bucknell men swept doubles play. Evan Zimmer and Octavio Canibe also had leads in some competitive first sets of their singles matches, while Gregg Cohenca and Kelly Morque are looking to come back from first-set losses.
On the women's side, Bucknell took two of three wins in doubles thanks to Courtney Casey and Elena Vidrascu at the No. 2 spot and Dumitrita Iepuras and Jen Bush at No. 3. Iepuras also had a one-set lead at No. 1 singles with a 6-1 decision. Vidrascu was up 5-4 in her singles matchup, and Lydia Colvin trailed 4-3, but was on serve, at No. 4 singles.
