LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team (5-7) takes on Mount St. Mary's and Navy this week after winning a close match to Duquesne on Sunday, 5-2. The Bison will head to Emmitsburg, Md., to play The Mount at 3 p.m. on Tuesday and will go against Navy at home on Sunday at noon.
Bucknell will look to continue its two-match winning streak as it takes on a Mount St. Mary's team that is 4-5 in its spring season. The Bison's last two wins came over Chicago State and Duquesne.
Last year when Bucknell and Mount St. Mary's challenged each other the Bison came out with a 6-1 victory. Bucknell's returning players Evan Zimmer, Josh Katten, Kyle Rosen and Gregory Maxson all won their singles matches over their Mount St. Mary's opponents. Bucknell leads the all-time series 14-2.
Bucknell will then have a few days rest before taking on Navy in its first conference matchup of the year. Navy currently has a 4-5 record this spring, and before it sees Bucknell on Sunday they will have played two matches against George Washington and Colgate.
When Navy and Bucknell met last year the Midshipmen defeated the Bison by the score of 4-3. Bucknell has never beat Navy with all 34 matches going to the Midshipmen.
After this week's matches the Bison will return to action against the Villanova Wildcats in Villanova, Pa., on March 28 at 1 p.m.
