LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell junior center Mike Muscala was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 13 First Team on Wednesday, his second straight first-team citation. Muscala leads the Bison in scoring (16.7) and the Patriot League in rebounding (8.9) entering Wednesday night's NIT clash at Arizona.
Muscala earned his third All-Patriot League award in as many seasons in 2011-12 after leading Bucknell to the regular-season title and No. 1 seed at the Patriot League Tournament. His scoring average ranks fourth in the Patriot League, and he has posted 15 double-doubles and 12 20-point games this season.
Most recently, Muscala had 30 points and 14 rebounds in a Patriot League championship game loss to Lehigh.
The Patriot League placed four players on the NABC All-District first and second teams. Muscala and Lehigh's C.J. McCollum were joined on the first team by Penn's Zach Rosen, Yale's Greg Mangano and Harvard's Keith Wright.
Second team picks were American's Charles Hinkle, Army's Ella Ellis, Princeton's Ian Hummer and Harvard's Kyle Casey.
The NABC All-District teams recognize the nation's best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. The 240 student-athletes, from 24 districts, are eligible for the NABC Coaches' Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Tuesday, March 20.
Bucknell takes on Arizona on Wednesday night at 9 p.m. (Eastern) on ESPN2.
