LEWISBURG, Pa. -- After posting a career-high five points against ninth-ranked Villanova on Saturday, Bucknell freshman midfielder David Dickson (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) has earned his second Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor of the young season.
Dickson collected two goals and three assists in Bucknell's tough 13-12 road loss to the ninth-ranked Wildcats. In a wild, back-and-forth affair that featured six ties and four lead changes, Dickson had a hand in Bucknell's final four goals of the day.
Late in the third quarter, Dickson scored to give the Bison their first lead of the day at 9-8. Bucknell fell behind 10-9 in the fourth period before Dickson scored again to tie it up. Moments later, Dickson fed Billy Eisenreich to put the Bison back in front 11-10.
The Wildcats scored two late goals to go up 12-11, but with just 1:22 to play, Dickson set up Todd Heritage to tie the game for the sixth time, forcing overtime.
Bucknell trailed by three goals early in the game before rallying to tie it a 6-all late in the second quarter, and Dickson also had the helper on that tying goal, scored by Nick Gantsoudes.
Through three games, Dickson ranks second on the team with nine points, coming on four goals and five assists. He also earned Rookie of the Week honors with a two-assist performance in an overtime loss to No. 19 Delaware on opening day, and he scored his first two career goals in game two at No. 11 Massachusetts.
The Bison are back in action next Saturday at Navy in the Patriot League opener for both teams. Game time is noon at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Md.
