Bucknell Women's Tennis Defeated by Duquesne, 6-0

OLEAN, N.Y. – The Bucknell Bison women's tennis team (1-4) ended its three-match weekend with a defeat to Duquesne (5-6), 6-0 in Olean, N.Y., on Sunday afternoon. Due to court time constraints the singles matches were played first, with the Dukes claiming all six matches. The doubles partners did not compete in the afternoon's matches.
Dumitrita Iepuras squared off in a strong No. 1 singles match against Vanessa Steiner. The play favored Steiner as she won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
Sophomore Elena Vidrascu managed to gain a first-set win over her opponent Judy Lin in the No. 2 singles match of the day. Vidrascu took the tough first set 7-6, only to fall in back-to-back sets, eventually losing the match by the score of 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.
The Bison ended their three matches in three days with a 1-2 record, earning their first win of the spring season over Niagara 4-3 on Friday.
The women's tennis team will be back in action against Saint Francis (Pa.) March 2 at 5 p.m. in Loretto, Pa. It is a makeup match with the Red Flash from Feb. 18 which was postponed due to weather-related issues.
