Women's Tennis Defeated by Lehigh 5-2

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Despite earning the doubles point and then tying the match at 2-2 with a singles win at the No. 1 spot, Bucknell women's tennis dropped the final three singles matches and ultimately fell 5-2 to Lehigh on Saturday evening.
With the loss, Bucknell fell to 7-10 overall and 0-5 in the Patriot League on the season.
Bucknell opened the afternoon by clinching the doubles point after going 2-1 in doubles play. Abby Platt and Riley Jennings took the first doubles match of the afternoon as they blanked Hannah Letzer and Lena Dogadalski 6-0. Natalie Devraj and Cameron King then defeated Giselle Vlassis and Skye Yonehara 6-3 to secure the doubles point for Bucknell. The match on the No. 2 spot went Lehigh's way as Alina Shyani and Maggie Forkner defeated Jaycie Mair and Summer Even-Esh 6-3.
Lehigh opened singles play with wins at the No. 2 and No. 4 spots to take a 2-1 lead over the Bison. Abby Platt then won her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 7-6 to tie the match back up at 2-2. The Mountain Hawks answered by winning three straight matches at the No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 spots to take the 5-2 win in Bethlehem.
Bucknell will next host Colgate on Saturday, April 4 at 11 a.m. on the Central PA Tennis courts as it continues to chase its first conference win of the season.
