Lee Leads Bison Women's Golf on Day 1 at Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Minjoo Lee posted a 4-over-par 76 to lead the Bucknell women's golf team in its first round of the spring season at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic. The Bison opened the three-day event on Sunday with a team score of 322, which puts them in a tie for 21st place in a talented field of 33 teams.
Lee was in control of her game all day, finishing with a birdie, 12 pars and five bogeys. Her birdie came at the par-3 15th, and she shot 38 on both nines.
Also for Bucknell on Sunday, Brittany Rendell carded an 80, Bridget Wilcox shot 82, Kasha Scott posted an 84, and Lauren Bernard had a 90. Rendell started on the 10th hole on the Oak Point Course and birdied her very first hole of the season.
Augusta State had three players shoot par or better, including a 3-under 69 from tournament leader Natalie Wille, and has a commanding lead in the team standings. ASU posted a 3-under 286 and leads second-place Elon by 17 shots. Campbell is in third place at 3-6, followed by UNC Greensboro and Jacksonville State are tied for fourth at 307.
Bucknell is tied with St. John's and fellow Big South competitor Charleston Southern at 322. Among the teams behind the Bison are Big South foes Radford, Winthrop, High Point and Presbyterian, as well as Georgetown, Marshall, Illinois State and William & Mary.
Round two is slated for Monday morning.
