Bucknell Women's Water Polo Falls to No. 18 Princeton, 12-6

LEWISBURG, Pa. –Julianne Valdes (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) tallied two goals and one assist and the Bucknell women's water polo team limited No. 18 Princeton to four first-half goals, but the Tigers outscored the Bison 8-4 in the second half and Bucknell opened its five-game weekend with a 12-6 conference loss to Princeton Friday night at DeNunzio Pool.
The Bison, who fell to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in CWPA Southern Division play, had five different players score goals, but Valdes was the only one to post a multi-goal outing.
Rena Heim (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) registered a season-high 11 saves in goal for Bucknell. However, the Bison defense posted just four steals in front of her, while the offense committed 13 turnovers.
Princeton (9-0) led by a slim 1-0 margin at the end of the first quarter, and just 4-2 at halftime. The Tigers converted 4 of 7 six-on-five chances, while Bucknell was 2-for-5 in similar situations.
The Bison will play four more games at Princeton this weekend as part of the CWPA/MAAC Crossover event. Bucknell's has Siena (9 a.m.) and Iona (4 p.m.) on Saturday's schedule.
